Month of Play was created by Melanie Subratie of the Seprod Foundation and Emprezz Golding of “Talk Up Yout”, and was powered by Seprod Foundation. Representatives from UNICEF and Fundacciones also took part in this programme. Month of Play, which took place in November 2018, is a campaign that encourages Jamaicans to pay attention to the importance of play in developing children. It is vital for children to have unstructured, free, play time. It helps them develop healthy emotions, as it allows them to express their conscious and unconscious experiences and feelings about things that are going on around them. The concept of children learning better through play will be explored in the Jamaican context throughout the Month of Play.
